Refund, Pickup & Workshop Policy

Last updated: October 2025

At Loaf & Lore, we craft and curate handmade goods across three unique categories – each with its own simple policy:

  • 🥖 Cottage Food Items – fresh, homemade breads, cookies, and other goods prepared under Nevada’s Cottage Food Program.
  • 🌿 Non-Food Retail Items – creative goods like sourdough starter kits, apparel, stickers, and stationery.
  • 🎓 Workshops & Experiences – in-person and virtual classes celebrating the art of baking, creativity, and connection.

Each category operates under different regulations, so please review the information below before reserving or purchasing.

🥖 Cottage Food Items (Pickup Only)

Our baked goods and other edible creations are produced under Nevada Cottage Food Law, which allows direct, in-person transactions only.
That means:

  • We cannot accept online payments or ship cottage food items.
  • Online orders function as reservations or inquiries, not prepaid purchases.
  • Payment is accepted at pickup by cash, card, or another agreed-upon method.
  • Once confirmed, you’ll receive your pickup time and location via email.

Cancellations (Cottage Food Orders)

Because payment is not collected in advance, cancellations are free – but courtesy and consistency matter.

  • Please notify us at Mel@loafandlore.com at least 24 hours before pickup if you need to cancel.
  • Last-minute cancellations make it difficult to manage ingredient use and inventory.
  • Repeated cancellations without 24 hours’ notice may result in temporary suspension or restriction from future reservations.

This policy helps ensure we can serve all customers fairly and minimize food waste.

Refunds (Cottage Food Orders)

Since payment occurs only upon pickup, refunds typically do not apply.
However, if you receive a product that is incorrect or does not meet our quality standards, please contact us within 48 hours of pickup, and we’ll arrange a replacement or future credit.

🌿 Non-Food Retail Items (Shipped Orders)

Our non-food goods – including sourdough starter kits, apparel, stickers, and other creative items – are available for online purchase and shipping within the U.S.

Shipping

  • Orders generally ship within 3–7 business days via standard carriers.
  • You’ll receive tracking information once your order ships.
  • Shipping times may vary depending on your location and postal conditions.

Returns & Refunds

We want you to love what you order!
If your item arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, contact Mel@loafandlore.com within 7 days of delivery, and we’ll arrange a replacement or refund.

For other returns (like sizing or preference changes), unopened and unused items may be returned within 14 days of delivery.
Customers are responsible for return shipping unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect.

🎓 Workshops & Experiences

We host both in-person workshops and virtual classes focused on sourdough baking, fermentation, and cottage creativity.

Booking & Payment

  • Workshop seats are limited and confirmed once payment is received.
  • Virtual class links and materials are sent approximately 24 hours before the scheduled session.

Cancellations (Workshops)

Because workshop sizes are small and preparation begins well in advance:

  • Cancellations made 7 or more days before the event are eligible for a full refund or credit toward a future class.
  • Cancellations made 6–2 days before the event may receive a 50% refund or credit, depending on availability.
  • Cancellations within 48 hours of the event and no-shows are non-refundable, though you may transfer your spot to another participant.

If Loaf & Lore must cancel or reschedule a workshop, you’ll have the option of a full refund or a rescheduled date.

Virtual Workshop Refunds

Refunds for virtual workshops are only available before digital materials or access links have been sent.
After materials are provided, refunds are not available – but you’ll retain access to replays or rescheduled sessions if offered.

⚠️ Allergen & Safety Notice

Cottage food items are prepared in a home kitchen that also handles wheat, eggs, dairy, nuts, and soy.
While we follow strict food safety standards, we cannot guarantee allergen-free products.
Please contact us before reserving or ordering if you have allergy-related questions.

Non-food retail products (such as starter kits) may contain or recommend third-party ingredients; please review all included packaging and materials before use.
